Wimbledon 2025: Keys , Osaka exits, Sabalenka beats Raducanu, Alcaraz advances

The exodus of seeded players at Wimbledon 2025 continued on Friday, with more high-profile names exiting the tournament. In the women’s singles draw, sixth seed Madison Keys of the United States and former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan were both eliminated in the third round. However, fellow American Taylor Fritz provided some consolation by advancing to the pre-quarterfinals.

Madison Keys, who began the year in top form with a triumphant run at the Australian Open, was unable to replicate that success on grass. She fell in straight sets to Germany’s Laura Siegemund, who delivered a disciplined and strategic performance to win 6-3, 6-3. Keys struggled throughout, registering 31 unforced errors, while the 37-year-old Siegemund played with remarkable poise and control.

Naomi Osaka, a four-time Grand Slam champion, continued her inconsistent run at Wimbledon. Despite taking the first set, she was defeated by Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in a hard-fought battle, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4. Grass has historically been a challenging surface for Osaka, and her third-round exit once again underscored those difficulties.

On the men’s side, Taylor Fritz kept American hopes alive with a solid performance against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. After surviving grueling five-set matches in the earlier rounds, Fritz won 6-4, 6-3, 6-7, 6-1. Although he faltered in the third set—missing several break point opportunities—he rebounded strongly in the fourth to take control and seal the win convincingly.

Sabalenka Battles Past Raducanu in a Thriller

Top seed Aryna Sabalenka staged a gritty comeback to defeat Britains  Emma Raducanu in a thrilling third-round encounter. The crowd was roaring for the local girl .  Trailing 2-4 in the first set and 1-4 in the second, Sabalenka maintained her composure to win 7-6, 6-4. She capitalized on key break point opportunities and remained steady under pressure, setting up a fourth-round clash with Elise Mertens.

Alcaraz Overcomes Struff to Reach Fourth Round

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz moved one step closer to retaining his title with a four-set win over Jan-Lennard Struff. After a brief scare in the second set, Alcaraz found his rhythm to clinch the match 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Spaniard’s powerful groundstrokes and tactical precision proved too much for the German as Alcaraz advanced to the pre-quarterfinals.
