Nat Sciver create history in scoring 1st ever 100 of WPL as MI beat RCB

 


Sciver-Brunt’s Historic Century Powers Mumbai Indians to Thrilling 15-Run Win Over RCB in WPL 2026

A sensational all-round performance led by Nat Sciver-Brunt’s historic century and a clinical bowling display helped Mumbai Indians defeat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 15 runs in the 16th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. This was Mumbai’s third win in seven matches, and the victory lifted them to second place on the points table.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted an imposing total of 199 for 4 in their 20 overs, riding on a magnificent unbeaten century from Nat Sciver-Brunt. In response, RCB fell just short, managing 184 for 9 despite a valiant late effort.

Chasing a daunting target of 200, RCB’s top order collapsed dramatically. The team lost five wickets for just 35 runs, with none of the top four batters, including captain Smriti Mandhana, reaching double figures. The early collapse put RCB firmly on the back foot. Shabnim Ismail bowled fast getting 2 wickets & Hayley Mathews picked up 3 wickets.


However, Richa Ghosh & Nadine DeKlerk got into a 42 run stand and DeKlerk was looking dangerous when she got out for 28 off 20 balls.

Richa Ghosh continued batting &  produced a breathtaking counter-attack from the middle order, almost pulling off a remarkable comeback. She smashed 90 runs off 50 balls, hitting 10 fours and 6 sixes, and took the game deep with a brutal assault in the final two overs. Richa was dismissed on the last ball of the innings, but her heroic knock kept RCB in the contest till the very end.

Mumbai’s bowlers held their nerve under pressure, with Hayley Matthews delivering an outstanding spell, picking up 3 wickets for just 1 run in 2 overs. Earlier, Matthews had also contributed with the bat, scoring a rapid 56 off 39 balls, underlining her value as a genuine all-rounder.

Shabnim Ismail and Amelia Kerr claimed two wickets each, while Amanjot Kaur chipped in with one.

The star of the night, though, was undoubtedly Nat Sciver-Brunt, who etched her name into WPL history by scoring the first-ever century of the tournament. She remained unbeaten on 100 off 57 balls, playing a classy and commanding innings. Sciver-Brunt also shared a crucial 131-run partnership with Hayley Matthews, which laid the foundation for Mumbai’s formidable total.

With this thrilling win, Mumbai Indians not only strengthened their position in the league but also sent a strong message to their rivals with a dominant display of batting depth and bowling discipline.
