Perry , Voll post 100s as Aus W thump IndiaW in 2nd ODI to win series
In the Day-Night Test in Adelaide, Rohit Sharma's team faced a defeat, and just hours later, India’s women’s team suffered a similar fate in Brisbane. In the second match of the ODI series, Australia defeated India by 122 runs, clinching the series. Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry both scored centuries to power Australia to a commanding victory.
Batting first, Australia posted a mammoth 371/8, their highest total against India in ODIs. The Australian team played aggressive cricket from the start and never appeared to be in trouble. The opening pair of Phoebe Litchfield (60) and Voll built a solid foundation with a 130-run stand. Voll then added 92 runs for the second wicket with Perry.
After Voll’s (101) dismissal, Perry partnered with Beth Mooney (56) to build a 98-run stand for the third wicket. Voll, playing in her second ODI, scored a century off 87 balls, hitting 12 fours. Perry’s 75-ball 105 included six sixes and seven fours. Indian spinners Priya Mishra (1-88) and Minnu Mani (2-71) conceded a significant number of runs. Although India managed to take a few late wickets in the final five overs, Australia had already posted an imposing total.
In response, Indian makeshift opener Richa Ghosh scored 54 off 72 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled. Smriti Mandhana (9), Harleen Deol (12), and Harmanpreet Kaur (38) failed to make an impact. Mandhana was bowled by Kim Garth while Deol & Kaur offered tame catches . Contributions from Jemimah Rodrigues (43) and Minnu Mani (46*) helped India reach a respectable total, with both playing some sparkling shots but it was not enough to challenge Australia’s score.
