Ingredients

½ cup bajra (pearl millet)

½ cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)

2 teaspoons ghee

1 teaspoon ginger paste

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1 teaspoon cumin powder

A pinch of asafoetida (hing)

Salt to taste


Instructions


1. Prepare Bajra and Lentils:

Soak bajra overnight in water. In the morning, drain the water and pressure cook the soaked bajra and moong dal together until soft. Set aside once cooked.


2. Make the Tempering:

Heat ghee in a pan. Add cumin powder and sauté on low heat.

Stir in a pinch of asafoetida and cook for a few seconds.

Add turmeric powder and mix well.


3. Combine:

Add the cooked bajra and moong dal mixture to the pan.

Season with salt and add water as needed to achieve your desired khichdi consistency.


4. Finish and Serve:

Simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to blend.

Drizzle a little ghee on top before serving.
