Bosch shows batting prowess as South Africa take crucial Pak wickets to lead in 1st test

Debutant fast bowler Corbin Bosch showcased his all-round abilities with a superb unbeaten 81, helping South Africa secure a 90-run first-innings lead against Pakistan on Day 2 of the first Test at SuperSport Park on Friday.

South Africa managed a total of 301 in response to Pakistan's 211. At one stage, the hosts were precariously placed, just two runs ahead, when opener Aiden Markram was dismissed for a well-made 89 as the eighth wicket.

However, Bosch's impressive knock turned the tide. Coming in at number nine, he displayed his batting prowess, boasting a first-class average above 40. Bosch struck 15 boundaries during his 93-ball innings, forming crucial partnerships of 41 with Kagiso Rabada (13) and 47 with Dane Paterson (12). Earlier, Bosch had impressed with the ball as well, taking 4 for 63 in Pakistan’s first innings.

Earlier in the day, Markram had reached 89 by lunch, guiding South Africa to 180 for 5. His innings, marked by composure and confidence, came as a relief following a string of low scores. Markram’s effort left the hosts trailing by just 31 runs with five wickets in hand at the time.

Pakistan have already lost 3 wickets as they laboured to 88/3 in the 2nd innings . Both the openers were dismissed early after getting starts . At close Babar Azam (16*) & Saud Shakeel were batting and Pakistan now need a big partnership from them to stay afloat

South Africa is now in a strong position to push for a victory, which would secure their spot in the ICC World Test Championship final next June.
