ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026: South Africa Women vs Bangladesh Women

South Africa Women kept their semi-final hopes alive with a professional victory over Bangladesh Women at Lord's in a must-win Group A encounter. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Bangladesh found scoring extremely difficult against the new-ball pairing of Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail, who bowled with tremendous discipline and pace. Kapp struck with the very first ball of the match, dismissing Juairiya Ferdous for a duck, while Ismail removed Taj Nehar to leave Bangladesh struggling early.

Bangladesh rebuilt through Sobhana Mostary, who anchored the innings with 42 off 48 balls, and captain Nigar Sultana, who provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 32 off 20 balls, including four boundaries and a six. Sharmin Akhter added 22 from 29 balls, but South Africa's bowlers never allowed the innings to gain momentum. Kapp finished with 1/9 from 4 overs, while Ismail claimed 1/13 from 3 overs and Nonkululeko Mlaba picked up two wickets. Bangladesh closed on 117/5 in 20 overs, a total that looked below par on a good batting surface.

Chasing 118, South Africa approached the target with composure. Their experienced top order ensured there were no major alarms as they steadily worked their way towards the modest target. The Proteas managed the chase comfortably, securing the victory that, coupled with Australia's later win over India, booked their place in the semi-finals.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026: India Women vs Australia Women

Australia Women produced the highest successful chase in Women's T20 World Cup history to defeat India Women by six wickets at Lord's and eliminate India from the tournament. In front of a record crowd of more than 27,000 spectators, India knew victory would guarantee a semi-final place and responded with one of their best batting displays of the competition.

Openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma(34)  gave India a brisk start before Mandhana took responsibility for anchoring the innings. The left-hander scored 38 from 37 balls, laying the platform for the middle order. The decisive contribution came from captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who played a stunning innings of 56 from just 27 deliveries, striking at over 200. Harmanpreet unleashed a late assault that included three consecutive sixes off Sophie Molineux, propelling India to a formidable 170/4 in 20 overs.  Jemima Rodrigues contributed 34 .

Australia's chase began shakily, but their experienced middle order once again delivered on the big stage. After early wickets increased the pressure, Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner combined for a match-winning partnership of 100 runs in only 57 balls. Perry mixed elegance with power in her 56 from 38 balls, while Gardner counterattacked brilliantly with 53 from 29 balls, striking at over 180. Their stand completely shifted the momentum in Australia's favour.

India fought back through Shree Charani, who claimed 2/32, and Deepti Sharma, who picked up a wicket, but Australia's depth proved too strong. After Perry's dismissal, Gardner remained calm and guided the chase towards the finish line. Australia reached 172/4 in 19 overs, winning with six balls to spare and ending India's semi-final hopes. Perry was named Player of the Match for her pivotal knock.
