ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026: England beat New Zealand, Pakistan win, West Indies shocked by Ireland

In the latest round of group matches in the ICC Womens T20 Worldcup , England  beat New Zealand convincingly, Pakistan beat Netherlands  and in a massive result  West Indies were shocked by Ireland

England Women vs New Zealand Women – England storm into semi-finals with nine-wicket win

England Women completed a dominant group-stage campaign by crushing defending champions New Zealand Women by nine wickets at The Oval, eliminating the White Ferns from the tournament. New Zealand, needing victory to keep their semi-final hopes alive, made a bright start after being asked to bat first. Amelia Kerr led the charge with an aggressive 47, while Isabella Gaze contributed 28 as the opening pair added 59 runs. Sophie Devine then produced a typically attacking cameo of 30 from just 14 deliveries, striking boundaries all around the ground and briefly putting England under pressure.

However, England's bowlers fought back superbly in the middle overs. Danielle Gibson delivered the crucial breakthroughs, removing Amelia Kerr and Izzy Sharp in quick succession, while Freya Kemp and Lauren Bell kept the scoring under control. New Zealand lost wickets regularly after their strong start and eventually finished on 163/6 from 20 overs, a competitive but not imposing total.

England's reply was spectacular. Danni Wyatt-Hodge continued her outstanding tournament with an unbeaten 89 from 53 balls, striking fluently through the off side and punishing anything loose. After an early wicket, she found an ideal partner in Sophia Dunkley, who remained unbeaten on 49. Their unbroken 128-run partnership completely dismantled New Zealand's bowling attack. England raced to the target with 16 balls remaining, finishing on 164/1 and recording one of the highest successful chases in Women's T20 World Cup history. Wyatt-Hodge was deservedly named Player of the Match as England finished top of Group B with five wins from five matches.

Pakistan Women vs Netherlands Women – Pakistan sign off with comprehensive victory

Pakistan Women ended their World Cup campaign on a positive note with a convincing 37-run victory over Netherlands Women in Bristol. After choosing to bat, Pakistan struggled initially on a difficult surface but recovered thanks to a composed innings from opener Gull Feroza. The right-hander anchored the innings with a well-crafted half-century, while Ayesha Zafar provided valuable support at the top. Pakistan's middle order added useful runs in the closing overs to reach 126/6 from their allotted 20 overs.

The Netherlands began their chase positively but never managed to keep pace with the required run rate. Pakistan's bowlers maintained relentless pressure, forcing errors and restricting boundary opportunities. Wickets fell at regular intervals and the Dutch batting line-up gradually lost momentum. The chase effectively collapsed in the latter stages as Pakistan's attack tightened its grip.

Captain Fatima Sana produced the decisive spell of the match. The all-rounder finished the contest in remarkable fashion with a triple-wicket maiden, cleaning up the tail and ensuring the Netherlands were bowled out for just 89 in 18 overs. Pakistan secured a 37-run victory, with Gull Feroza earning the Player of the Match award for her match-winning fifty. Although the win came too late to rescue their semi-final hopes, it provided a strong finish to their tournament.

Women's T20 World Cup 2026: Ireland Women vs West Indies Women, Ireland script shocking win

Ireland Women scripted one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by defeating West Indies Women by six wickets at Bristol, recording their first-ever Women's T20 World Cup victory. Chasing 129 for victory, Ireland reached 129/4 in 18.1 overs after restricting West Indies to 128/7 from their 20 overs.

Asked to bat first after Ireland won the toss, West Indies never managed to build significant momentum. Captain Hayley Matthews made 22 from 25 balls, while veteran Stafanie Taylor contributed 16 from 26 deliveries. Deandra Dottin added 21 off 28 balls, but Ireland's disciplined bowling ensured regular breakthroughs. The most productive innings came from Chinelle Henry, who remained unbeaten on 27 from 21 balls with three fours, helping West Indies finish on 128/7.

Ireland's bowlers shared the workload impressively. Cara Murray was outstanding with 2/13 from four overs, while Aimee Maguire claimed 2/22. Orla Prendergast, Arlene Kelly and Jane Maguire chipped in with a wicket apiece to keep the Caribbean side under pressure throughout the innings.

In reply, Ireland lost captain Gaby Lewis for 9, but wicketkeeper Amy Hunter steadied the chase with 28 from 32 balls. The decisive contribution came from Prendergast, who produced a superb 63 off just 44 deliveries, striking eight fours and two sixes. Her aggressive innings transformed the chase and put Ireland firmly in control. Rebecca Stokell then remained unbeaten on 16, while Louise Little finished the match with an unbeaten 4 as Ireland crossed the target with 11 balls to spare.

For West Indies, Ashmini Munisar returned 2/28, while Matthews and Afy Fletcher picked up one wicket each, but the total proved insufficient against Ireland's confident batting display.

The victory ended Ireland's long wait for a Women's T20 World Cup win and was built around Prendergast's match-winning all-round influence and a disciplined bowling performance led by Murray and Aimee Maguire.
