Ireland shock India by winning 2nd T20I by 1 run & series by 2-0

Ireland produced one of the greatest results in their cricket history, defeating reigning T20 World Cup champions India by a dramatic one run in the second T20I at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Belfast to seal a historic 2-0 series triumph. The victory secured Ireland's first-ever bilateral T20I series win over India and completed a remarkable clean sweep of the world champions.

After being asked to bat, Ireland recovered from an uncertain start to post a competitive 154 for 8 in their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by Harry Tector, who played a mature knock of 53 runs, expertly rebuilding after early wickets. Ben Calitz provided crucial support with 37 runs, while captain Lorcan Tucker and the middle order chipped in with valuable contributions that ensured Ireland crossed the 150-mark. Despite disciplined spells from India's bowlers, including early breakthroughs from Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh, Ireland maintained enough momentum through the middle overs to set a challenging target of 155.

India's chase got off to a disastrous start as Ireland's pace attack struck repeatedly with the new ball. The hosts reduced India to 19 for 3, removing key batsmen Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma and captain Shreyas Iyer. Jai Moondra was the chief destroyer, producing another outstanding spell and finishing with figures of 3 for 32. Matt Hollard provided excellent support, claiming 3 for 26 as Ireland kept India under relentless pressure throughout the innings.

With wickets tumbling around him, Tilak Varma mounted a lone resistance for India. The left-hander compiled a fighting 55 and held the innings together during a tense middle phase. Shivam Dube offered useful support, but Ireland's bowlers continued to make crucial breakthroughs at regular intervals. Harry Tector even contributed with the ball, picking up two important wickets to derail India's recovery.

The match went down to the wire as India threatened a remarkable escape in the closing overs. However, Ireland held their nerve brilliantly under pressure. The decisive moment arrived on the penultimate delivery when Harshit Rana was dismissed attempting a boundary, leaving India agonisingly short of the target. The visitors eventually fell one run short, handing Ireland a famous victory and sparking jubilant celebrations among the home players and supporters.
