India Tighten Grip on West Indies as Rahul, Jurel and Jadeja Shine with Centuries

It turned out to be a one-sided contest, with India’s dominance leaving the once-mighty West Indies in tatters. After bowling out the visitors for 162, India’s first-innings reply soared to 448/5 at stumps on Day 2, giving them a commanding lead of 286 runs. The day belonged to the trio of KL Rahul, debutant Dhruv Jurel, and the ever-reliable Ravindra Jadeja — all of whom struck majestic centuries.

Jadeja notched up his sixth Test ton, reaching the milestone in 168 balls before celebrating with his trademark sword gesture. His composed yet aggressive knock came in a monumental partnership between Him and Jadeja . Together, Jadeja and Jurel piled on 206 runs, grinding the West Indian bowlers into submission. Jurel, calm and assured at the crease, reached his maiden Test hundred off 190 balls, striking a boundary off captain Roston Chase to enter the record books.

India had resumed the day at 121/2, with Rahul and Shubman Gill adding a brisk 98-run stand. Gill fell to an ill-judged reverse sweep against Chase, but Rahul carried on to a fine century before departing soon after. Jurel then steadied the innings, combining patience with authority, while Jadeja accelerated the scoring rate in an ODI-like fashion.

The innings carried added significance, as Jurel’s performance came under the spotlight in the absence of injured wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. He passed the test with flying colours, impressing both with the gloves and with the bat. By stumps, Jadeja was unbeaten on 104, alongside Washington Sundar on 9, leaving India firmly in control of the Ahmedabad Test.

With the West Indies looking out of ideas, it now appears to be just a matter of time before India wrap up another emphatic victory.
