England women beat New Zealand while India v Bangladesh game rain marred no result in World cup 2025

With Women World cup semi final lineups already decided, the last day of the league phase saw two inconsequential matches played out which also looked similarly lacklustre.  England women outplayed New Zealand by 8 wickets while Navi Mumbai match between India & Bangladesh had a no result due to unseasonal Mumbai rains .

The Vizag game saw New Zealand batting first an putting on a timid show. After another Bates no show , it was Plimmer who scored an enterprising 43 with Amelia Kerr in company with 35 . Skipper Sophie Devine playing her final ODI scored 23 but wickets kept falling like regular intervals and the lower order  had timid contributions as New Zealand innings folded up for 168 well before 50 overs mark .

England was the more motivated team on this day having already reached semis . The openers launched the innings in style with both Tammy Buomont and Any Jones matching each other stroke for stroke . Buomont was dismissed after a sparkling 40 while Jones  played some glorious shots on her way to 86 not out while Heather Knight after playing well for 33 was lbw to Devine.  England finally won by 8 wickets and will face South Africa in the semi final .

India vs Bangladesh match at Navi Mumbai started after a rain delay with Harmanpreet winning the toss and putting Bangladesh in . Subsequently with more rain the overs were reduced to 27 per innings and Bangladesh ladies limped their way to a modest 119 in 27 overs . Sharmim Akhtar with 36 & Mostary with 26 were the top scorers while the Indian bowlers were all over the Bangladesh batters. Radha Yadav took 3 wickets and effected a brilliant direct hit runout at non strikers end . However India suffered a major blow as Pratika Rawal twisted her ankle badly in trying to stop a ball in the wet outfield making her a doubtful starter for the all important semi final vs the mighty Australia.

India with a 126 DLS target reached 57/0 with Mandhana on a free stroking 34 and Amanjot Kaur on 15 when rains again came down to finally seal the match as a no result and points shared .

India will now await the fancied Australia in the big semi final at Navi Mumbai
