IPL2026 : Vaibhav’s Blazing Knock Knocks SRH Out, Rajasthan March Closer to IPL Glory

The IPL witnessed the rise of a sensational new star as 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi produced a jaw-dropping innings to power Rajasthan Royals past Sunrisers Hyderabad and closer to the coveted trophy. Hyderabad’s much-feared batting trio of “Travishek” — Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma — along with Ishan Kishan, had terrorised opponents throughout the season. But on this night, all their fireworks were overshadowed by the brilliance of a fearless teenager.

With this defeat, Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers crashed out of the tournament, while Rajasthan moved one giant step closer to a maiden IPL title.

Asked to bat first at Mullanpur, Rajasthan unleashed carnage from the very beginning. Vaibhav batted with breathtaking confidence, dismantling Hyderabad’s bowling attack with outrageous strokeplay. By the end of the powerplay, the teenager had already smashed 60 runs off just 20 balls, including a brutal 25-run over against Cummins himself. For a moment, the youngster even threatened to break the record for the fastest century in IPL history.

Although he fell agonisingly short of the landmark, Vaibhav’s astonishing 97 off just 29 balls had already ripped the game away from Hyderabad. His dismissal in the eighth over slowed Rajasthan’s momentum considerably as Yashasvi Jaiswal (29) and Riyan Parag (26)  departed at quick  intervals. Dhruv Jurel (50) then provided the  flourish with a sparkling half-century. Still, Rajasthan could not breach the 250-run mark and finished with a formidable 244-run target having scored only 36 in last 5 overs something that they need to look at in future. 3 wickets for Prafull Hinge for SRH . Cummins went for 64 in his 4 overs being destroyed by the teenager in his first spell.

The chase promised another batting spectacle. The big question was whether Jofra Archer and Rajasthan’s bowlers could survive the explosive onslaught of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. Many wondered if Wednesday would mark the end of Vaibhav’s fairytale campaign.

Rajasthan, however, had different plans.

Archer struck in the very first over to remove Abhishek(0), before sending back the dangerous Ishan soon after Ishan (33 in 11 balls) was threatening to snatch away the momentum . Hyderabad’s batting line-up collapsed dramatically, with half the side back in the pavilion within seven overs including Klaasen for 18. That early damage effectively sealed the contest.

To their credit, Hyderabad’s lower order attempted a spirited fightback and stretched the game till the final over. Nitish Reddy(38) & Salil Arora (35) batted enterprisingly but without a solid foundation, their resistance resembled a crumbling structure built on weak ground. The miracle comeback never arrived, and with it ended Hyderabad’s dream of lifting the IPL trophy this season. 3 wickets to Jofra Archer

For Rajasthan and their teenage sensation, the dream remains very much alive. One more victory will take them to the final. Two more wins, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi could complete one of the most extraordinary stories in IPL history.
