Rajasthan Royals boosted their IPL playoff hopes with a sensational victory over Lucknow Super Giants, putting additional pressure on Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of their crucial home clash against Mumbai Indians. Chasing a daunting target of 221, Rajasthan produced a fearless batting display to reach 225/3 in just 19.1 overs after Lucknow had posted a formidable 220/5 on Tuesday.

Winning the toss, stand-in Rajasthan captain Yashasvi Jaiswal opted to field first on the batting-friendly Jaipur surface. Lucknow’s explosive openers, Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis, made full use of the conditions with an electrifying start. Marsh narrowly missed out on a century, hammering a magnificent 96 off 57 balls, studded with 11 fours and 5 sixes. Inglis was equally destructive, smashing 60 off just 29 deliveries with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes.

The opening pair powered Lucknow to 109 runs in only 8.2 overs, threatening a total well beyond 240. Captain Rishabh Pant also contributed briskly with a 23-ball 35, including two fours and two sixes. However, Nicholas Pooran failed to make an impact, managing only 16. For Rajasthan, young pacer Yash Dayal was the standout bowler with two wickets for 35 runs, while Jofra Archer chipped in with one wicket.

In reply, Rajasthan’s openers came out blazing. Jaiswal set the tone with a rapid 43 off 23 balls, laced with 8 fours and a six. But the night truly belonged to 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a breathtaking knock of 93 off just 38 balls. The teenage prodigy dazzled the crowd with 7 fours and a staggering 10 sixes, falling agonisingly short of a memorable century.

Dhruv Jurel then anchored the chase superbly with an unbeaten 53 off 38 deliveries, striking 3 fours and 3 sixes, while Donovan Ferreira finished the game calmly with an unbeaten 16. Lucknow’s most successful bowler was Mohsin Khan, who picked up one wicket for 31 runs.

With this emphatic win, Rajasthan climbed to fourth place in the IPL points table, significantly strengthening their playoff ambitions.
