IPL2026 : Gujarat Titans Crush Sunrisers Hyderabad to Storm to the Top of IPL Table
Gujarat Titans produced a ruthless all-round performance to register a massive 82-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a crucial IPL clash. After posting a competitive 168/5, Gujarat bundled Hyderabad out for a humiliating 86 in just 14.5 overs at Ahmedabad. With the emphatic win, Gujarat climbed to the top of the points table with 16 points from 12 matches, while Hyderabad remained third with 14 points.
Chasing 169, Hyderabad suffered a stunning batting collapse from the very beginning. None of their star-studded batters could withstand the relentless pressure created by Gujarat’s fiery bowling attack led by Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder. The much-feared batting lineup looked completely out of sorts and crumbled like a house of cards.
The disaster began when Travis Head departed for a duck. Soon after, Abhishek Sharma (6), Ishan Kishan (11), Ravichandran Smaran (9), Heinrich Klaasen (14), Salil Arora (16) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (2) all fell cheaply. Hyderabad were reeling at 60/7, effectively ending the contest long before the finish line.
Captain Pat Cummins attempted a late fightback with a brisk 19 off just 9 balls, but the lack of support from the other end ensured there would be no comeback.
Rabada was outstanding with figures of 3/28, while Holder dismantled the middle order with 3/20. Siraj claimed 1/11, Prasidh Krishna took 1/23, and Rashid Khan chipped in with 1/3.
Earlier, Cummins won the toss and opted to field first, but Gujarat’s batters made full use of the opportunity to put runs on the board. Although captain Shubman Gill (5) and Jos Buttler (7) failed to make an impact, Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar steadied the innings brilliantly.
Sai Sudharsan played a classy knock of 61 off 44 balls, striking five boundaries and two sixes. Nishant Sidhu added a quickfire 22 off 14 deliveries, while Washington smashed an aggressive 50 off 33 balls, laced with seven fours and a six. Holder (11*) and Rahul Tewatia (4*) provided the finishing touches as Gujarat ended on a challenging total.
For Hyderabad, Praful Hinge was the standout bowler with impressive figures of 2/17. Shakib Hussain picked up 2/37, while Cummins claimed one wicket for 20 runs.
