IPL24: RCB , CSK notch up big wins as Jacks, Kohli, Ruturaj shines




 The super Sunday of 28 April 2024 saw two one sided contests in IPL24 ganes . While RCB put on another stellar display to beat Gujarat Titans onesided , CSK proved too strong for SRH at Chennai to notch up a big win . Lets us have a glance at both the games


RCB v Gujarat Titans 


RCB crushed Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad by 9 wickets with 24 balls to spare to win two back to back away games in style after losing 7 of their 1st 8 games .  This big loss has jeopardized last two years finalists Gujarat Titan's playoffs hopes for 2024 .


Losing the toss and batting first  Gujarat Titans lost both their openers Saha (5) and Gill (16) early but a great stand between Sai Sudharsan and Shahrukh Khan turned the tables in the hosts favour . Shahrukh played a blistering knock of 58 in just 30 balls and smashed 5 sixes . Sudharsan played another stellar knock of 84 off 48 balls with some glorious shots but David Miller (26*) could not force the pace except for hitting a 6 on the final ball for Gujarat Titans to reach 200/3 in 20 overs with Siraj , Maxwell and Swapnil picking 1 wicket each .


In reply RCB started fluently with Faf Duplessis scoring a quickfire 24 .  Virat Kohli today looked to get his game vs the spinners right with his slog sweeps and conventional sweeps fetching runs  as he played his share of sparkling shots in his unbeaten 70  but it was Will Jacks who after starting slowly created the maximum impact as he went berserk and plundered 4s & 6s to score a breathtaking 100 not out at an astonishing strike rate of 243  !!  Jacks finally ended the match with a 6 to complete the win and his 100 and later picked up the man of the match as RCB gets to 6 points .


CSK v SRH 


Meanwhile  CSK put up an emphatic display to convincingly outplay SRH by 78 runs in a one sided contest . Losing the toss and batting first CSK lost Rahane (9) cheaply but Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell got together in a magnificent 107 stand in 11 overs . While Ruturaj played breathtaking shots as usual , Mitchell after some struggles in last couple of games , played more fluently on this day for 52 off 32 balls . Later Shivam Dube produced his customary fireworks of big hits to score 39 in 20 balls while Gaikward trying to hit a big shot in the final over was dismissed for 98 off 54 balls as CSK reached an imposing 212/3 . SRH bowling looked well below par right through .


In reply SRH openers while trying to go hard at the bowling  lost their wickets cheaply . Head (13) and Abhishek's (15) early wickets rattled SRH . In the middle the impact sub  Anmolpreet (0)  Markram (32) , Reddy (15) and Klaasen (21) could not counter the pace off deliveries of the CSK bowlers as regular wickets fell . SRH never looked in the hunt and folded up meekly for 134 to lose by 78 runs . For CSK,  Deshpande took 4 wickets and Mitchell took 5 catches .  Gaikwad was the player of the match

Red alert of more heavy rains in Maharashtra, closures announced in schools, colleges in some districts

  It is raining continuously in many districts of Maharashtra.  The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for 4 districts, expressing the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the state today i.e. on Thursday.  Keeping this in mind, a holiday has been declared today (July 27) for schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur districts.  Orange alert of rain has been issued in Raigarh district.  In such a situation, the district administration will take a decision on the basis of the situation with Raigad district.  On the other hand, July 27 has been declared a holiday for all government, private schools, all colleges, all ashram schools, business and training centers within Panvel Municipal Corporation limits.  The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Mumbai as well as Thane, Ratnagiri and Chandrapur.  In such a situation, keeping in view the possibility of heavy rains, school students of class I to 12 of all medium

Heavy rains totally disrupts train services in Mumbai area, CM orders early closure of Govt Offices

  Due to heavy rains in Maharashtra, the speed of Mumbai local has slowed down.  Many trains have been cancelled and diverted. Due to heavy rains in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai, the track changing point on the Kalyan-Kasara route was damaged, due to which train services on this route were stopped on Wednesday afternoon.  A senior railway official gave this information.  The Central Railway also informed that it has diverted some mail and express trains on Diva-Panvel-Karjat route and Daund-Manmad route, besides terminating some trains between Mumbai and Pune.   Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday ordered that the government offices in Mumbai and the neighboring region should be closed early.
