IPL24: Boult , Chahal , Parag destroys Mumbai as Rajasthan win 3 in a row

Nothing seems to be going right for Mumbai Indians in IPL.  Hardik Pandya's team was under pressure at the beginning of the competition after losing three consecutive matches.  Mumbai played their first match at home on Monday.  Mumbai lost to Rajasthan Royals by 6 wickets at Wankhede.  Rajasthan scored 127 runs for 4 wickets in 15.3 overs in response to Mumbai's 125 runs for 9 wickets.

Mumbai Indians' batting disaster at home.  Hardik's batsmen could not put up the expected fight against Rajasthan Royals.  Trent Boult, Yuzvendra Chahal were at their best as the Mumbai batters struggled right through .  Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson won the toss and decided to field.  Mumbai could not take advantage of the opportunity to bat first in the familiar 22 yards. They lost wickets at regular intervals from the beginning of the innings. Boult looked unplayable at the start dismissing Rohit first ball caught behind followed by Naman lbw next ball and Brevis caught in the next over -  all for ducks  ,  Although Ishan Kishan scored 16 runs off 14 balls to open, Mumbai returned for zero runs after three batters.  Ishan hit 2 fours and 1 six before the rapidly quick Nandre Burger produced an unplayable delivery to take the edge of ishan's bat for Samson to snap it up.

After losing 4 wickets for 20 runs, Tilak Verma and Hardik took charge of Mumbai's innings.  They scored 56 runs in the fifth wicket partnership.  Tilak's brave 32-run innings came from 29 balls.  He hit two sixes.  Mumbai captain made 34 off 21 balls.  6 fours came from Hardik's bat.  Piyush Chawla (3), Gerald Coetzee (4) did not get many runs.  Team David put up a bit of a fight at the end.  He scored 17 runs off 24 balls with 1 four.   Bumrah remained unbeaten with 8 runs.  Akash Madhwal remained unbeaten on 4 runs.

Rajasthan's most successful bowler is Yuzvendra Chahal.  He took 3 wickets for just 11 runs as he rattled the middle order.  The spinner who was left out of the national team proved himself once again.  Boult took 3 wickets for 22 runs.  Nandre Berger took 2 wickets with 32 runs.  1 wicket for 30 runs by Abesh Khan.  Only Ravichandran Ashwin did not get a wicket.

However, the beginning of the innings  was not good for Rajasthan.  The two openers, Jaiswal and Jos Buttler, got out quickly. Jaiswal scored 10 runs in 6 balls before he gave a catch to cover trying hit young Mpakha over the top .  13 runs from 16 balls came from Buttler's bat as he got out trying to pull Madhwal .  Sanju, who dropped to number three, was also dismissed for 12 runs off 10 balls.  Chasing 126 runs, Rajasthan lost 3 wickets for 48 runs and came under some pressure.  However, they were able to win the match from there.  Ryan Parag led the team's innings at number four.  Ashwin accompanied him.  16 runs off 16 balls from the experienced off-spinner's bat.  Hit 1 four.   Shubham Dubey was the impact player  with Ryan.  An aggressive unbeaten innings of 54 runs from 39 balls came from Ryan's bat.  5 fours and 3 sixes came from his bat.  Shubham remained unbeaten with 8 runs from 6 balls.

Mumbai's most successful bowler Madhwal took 3 wickets with 20 runs.  1 wicket for 23 runs South Africa's young quick Mphaka.  Bumrah did not get a wicket despite giving away  26 runs.  The rest of the Mumbai bowlers could not do much.

Boult for his brilliant powerplay bowling impact was the player of the match.
