IPL24: Stoinis explodes as CSK stumble to defeat to LSG from winning position

Century after century.  Another tight fight.  After a thrilling fightback  Lucknow Super Giants defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets in another classic match of IPL (IPL 2024).  LSG reached the target of 211 runs set by Chennai with 3 balls to spare.  Courtesy, Stoinis' breathtaking century.  LSG moved up to number 4 in the points table as a result of the thrilling win in the last over.

Lucknow won the toss and decided to bowl first.  But the decision of captain Rahul (KL Rahul) backfired somewhat .  Batting first, Chennai scored 210 runs in the allotted 20 overs due Ruturaj's dazzling century ans Shivam Dube's explosive contribution .  CSK did not start well on this day.  Rahane (1) returned to the pavilion after only 4 runs caught behind brilliantly by Rahul off Henry . A struggling   Darryl Mitchell (13)  also got out before the team crossed 50 runs. Jadeja too batting for 16 off 19 didnt help CSK But at the other end, Ruturaj played a brilliant innings with full of dazzling strokes and after he was joined by explosive Dube , CSK scord heavily with Dube hitting his mightly sixes with 7 in all for another fabulous knock  .   Ruturaj amassed a dazzling 108 off 60 balls and Dube played a brilliant innings of 66 off just 27 balls. Their effort took CSK past 200.  Matt Henry (1/28) was the best bowler for LSG.

Lucknow Super Giants got off to an awkward start after playing with a target of 211 runs.  Quinton de Kock returned for no run.  Captain Rahul also could not stay at the crease for long.  He scored 16 runs off 14 balls.  After that, Stoinis took the lead of the innings.  He took the sinking boat of Lucknow to the score practically single-handedly. An out of touch Devdutt Paddikal (13) looked so out of form that Stoinis' efforts looked to end in vain .  Stoinis was accompanied by Nicholas Pooran and latr Deepak Hooda.  Pooran scored a breathtaking 34 runs off just 15 balls as LSG looked dangerous but Pooran finally succumbled to the slower short ball of Pathirana . HoweverHooda played a stormy innings of 17 runs and helped Stoinis to script the famous win.

But none of the fightback would have mattered if Stoinis had not managed a nerve-wracking last over to wrest victory from Chennai's hands.  Mustafizur came to bowl for Chennai in the last over.  Capital in hand was 17 runs.  Stoinis hit a huge six on the first ball.  The second ball is a boundary again.  Stoinis virtually sealed the win by hitting a boundary off the third ball.  It was a no ball again.  Boundary was hit again in the fourth ball for the win .  Mustafizur surrendered helplessly in front of Stoinis.  LSG reached the target with 3 balls to spare.  In the end, Stoinis scored 124 runs in just 63 balls.  This is his first century in IPL.  His century brought the team the two points they wanted. Pathirana took 2/35 but his efforts were not enough to rescue CSK
