IPL24: KKR crushed Delhi Capitals with explosive batting led by Narine show

 


KKR looked in murderous touch at Vizag vs Delhi Capitals as they won the 16th match of IPL 2024 by a huge margin of 106 runs . It was a breathtaking 6 hitting knock by Sunil  Narine followed by a Russell britzkreig that completely made the match a onesided affair in the second half .


Batting first after winning the toss , KKR  unleashed    Sunil Narine    who was in murderous form. Salt (18) went early but Narine launched a fierce onslaught as he smashed 6s of all the bowlers with sublime timing . He was joined by Angkrish Raghuvanshi the 18 year old under 19 India player. Raghuvanshi had everyone in awe with his classy style combined with unorthodox shots . Together they added 104 runs at great pace before Narine departed for 85 iff 39 balls with 7 fours & 7 sixes . 




Raghuvanshi soon exited after completing a fine 50 with eyecatching strokes . He made 54 in 27 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes abd sure enough we will see plenty from this youngster in future.  


It was now Russell time as he scored an explosive 41 in 19 balls with his typical brute force with 4 fours and 3 sixes before he was bowled by a great yorker by Ishant . Shreyas (18) played a short cameo and Rinku smashed a quickfire 26 in 8 balls with 3 sixes but KKR fell just 5 short of SRH 's record of highest ever IPL total of 277.  Delhi bowlers were smashed all over the place. Nortje took 3 wickets and Ishant got 2 wickets .



272/7 was always going to be an uphill task for a fragile Delhi batting and so it proved as in reply Delhi lost a glut of wickets in the powerplay itself trying to go for big hits. Starc finally got going with the wickets of his countrymen Warner (18) clean bowled and Marsh (0) caught while Vaibhav Arora dismissed Shaw(3) and Porel (0) as Delhi were 33/4 in the powerplay and already staring at a huge defeat.  


However in the only partnership of the innings  of 93 runs , Rishabh Pant and Stubbs played breathtaking shots as both took the bowlers on . Pant hit some brilliant sixes as he raced to a breathtaking 55 off 27 balls while Stubbs smashed 54 off 32 balls with some  clean hitting sixes to briefly rattle the Delhi bowlers . However once they were dismissed, the rest of the batting collapsed soon like a pack of cards and KKR finally won with 3 overs to spare .


For KKR Varun Chakravarty and Vaibhav  took 3 wickets while Starc got 2 as KKR wrapped up the game pretty quickly to hand a big defeat to the Capitals .


Narine for his breathtaking batting was awarded the player of the match.

Olympics24 : Ten men India edge out Britain in tie breaker to storm into hockey SF

  India reached the Olympic hockey semifinals by defeating Britain in a shootout. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time, leading to a shootout where India won 4-2. India played with ten players for 42 minutes to secure the victory. In the semifinals, India will face the winner of the Germany-Argentina match. A win in Tuesday's match will ensure a silver medal for last time's bronze winners at the Paris Olympics. Following the advice of video umpire , Indian defender Amit Rohidas was shown a red card in the fourth minute of the second quarter for unintentional stick contact with a British player’s head.
