IPL24: LSG cruise to emphatic win over CSK , Rahul shines

 



Lucknow Super Giants scripted an easy win against Chennai Super Kings at home .  Ruturaj Gaikwad's team batted first and scored 176 runs for 6 wickets.  In reply, Lokesh Rahul's team scored 180 runs for 2 wickets in 19 overs.



 After losing two matches in a row, Lucknow won at home.  Lucknow captain Rahul won the toss and decided to field.  Chennai's innings did not start well at 22 yards at Green Park.  However, they reached a fighting position thanks to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's 9-ball 28-run innings.


 Chasing 177 runs for victory, Lucknow scored 134 runs in 15 overs with their opening pair.  Quinton de Cock scored a steady 54 runs off 43 balls.  He hit 5 fours and 1 six.  His partnership with Rahul is the highest opening partnership in the IPL so far.  Lucknow's victory was assured by their pair.  Nicholas Pooran joined Rahul after DeCock's dismissal.  Both of them brought the team almost to victory.  Rahul led the team from the front in an important victory by playing an impeccable innings.  In the end he scored 82 runs off 53 balls before he was brilliantly caught by Jadeja at point off Pathirana .  He decorated his innings with 9 fours and 3 sixes.  Pooran made a typically aggressive  23 runs off 12 balls.  He hit 3 fours and 1 six in an unbeaten innings.  Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten at number four with 8 runs.  No bowler in Chennai was able to make such a nudge on this day.  Mathisa Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman took 1 wicket each.


Earlier, Rachin Ravindra  was dismissed on the first ball of the second over of Chennai's innings bowled by an inswinger of Mohsin .  Skipper Ruturaj also did not get a runs at number three.  He made 17 runs off 13 balls.  Ravindra Jadeja gave confidence to the team's innings by dropping to number four.  The other opener Ajinkya Rahane kept the other end of the wicket.  He scored 36 runs off 24 balls with 5 fours and 1 six.  Shivam Dubey (3), Sameer Rizvi (1) got out quickly and the innings came under pressure again in Chennai.  As a result, Chennai could not increase the pace of scoring runs in the middle overs.  Moeen Ali put up a bit of a fight at number seven.  The English cricketer played a breezy  innings of 30 runs off 20 balls with the help of 3 sixes off Bishnoi in a single over .  Mahendra Singh Dhoni made swift runs  with Jadeja at the end.  It was they who brought Chennai to a place to fight.  Jadeja eventually made an unbeaten 57.  Jadeja hit 5 fours and 1 six in the 40-ball innings.  Dhoni finished his innings of 28 runs with 3 fours and 2 sixes of just 9 balls which some explosive shots showing that he stills packs a punch at 42 .


 Lucknow's most successful bowler Krunal Pandya took 2 wickets for 16 runs.  1 wicket for 7 runs by Stoinis.  1 wicket for 37 runs by Mohsin Khan.  Yash Thakur and Ravi Bishnoi got 1 wicket each.
