IPL24: Samson - Jurel powers Rajasthan to emphatic win over LSG in away game

Dominating batting by Sanju Samson & Dhruv Jurel helped Rajasthan Royals to outplay Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets with one over to spare chasing a big target of 197

Rajasthan Royals are virtually guaranteed to play in the playoffs.  Sanju again performed as captain on Saturday evening.  He played a skilful  unbeaten innings of 71 runs .  The accomplices are Dhruv Jurel (52), Yashasvi Jaiswal (24) and Jos Buttler (34).  The team reached the target of 197 runs after losing only three wickets in 19 overs after a 60 run opening stand during powerplay .

Dhruv Jurel had limited opportunities in this IPL but on this day he came out at 5 after Parag (14) was out cheaply . Jurel played sparkling shots and looked in control during his unbeaten half century and took the team over the line with Samson .

As the number of matches is increasing in the current IPL, the status of the bowlers is going down.  They are throwing the ball twenty-two yards to beat the batters and face off  boundary!  This is how the runs have flowed in the last few days' matches.  However, that batsmanship was not seen in Saturday's second match.  Batting first against Rajasthan on a slow pitch, Lucknow scored 196 runs for 5 wickets.  Courtesy KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda half centuries.

Rajasthan won the toss and decided to bowl first.  The bowlers of Sanju Samson's team tied the batters by taking advantage of the slow pitch.  However, Quinton de Kock got off to a good start for Lucknow, hitting Trent Boult for a four off the first two balls.  Although he did not last long.  The South African batsman was clean bowled on Boult's third ball.  Marcus Stoinis, who scored a century in the last match, returned in a short time bowled by a vicious inswinger from Sandeep Sharma for 0.  After that, Rahul and Deepak Hooda (50) took the onus to salvage the innings and also try and take on the bowlers .   Lucknow scored 196 runs by losing five wickets under the influence of two batters.

Rahul (76) looked in great touch but he did not get a big thrust at the end from any of his batters like Pooran (11) , Badoni (18*) and Krunal Pandya (15*) and thus LSG fell 4 short of 200 as Sandeep Sharma woth 2 wickets continued to impress for Rajasthan Royals.   Samson for his dazzling batting was the player of the match as Rajasthan Royals with 16 points looks almost set to move into the playoffs  while LSG gets a jolt after back to back wins vs CSK.
