T20IWC : Pakistan beat USA , wins for New Zealand , Netherlands
On February 10 there were 3 games in the T20 World cup . The much talked about Pakistan vs USA match had its interest as USA beat Pakistan in superover in 2024 world cup but this time Pakistan was well prepared & beat USA convincingly. Elsewhere New Zealand drubbed UAE while Netherlands outplayed Namibia.
Farhan , Babar shine as Pakistan beat USA
Pakistan had suffered a heartbreaking Super Over defeat against the USA in the previous T20 World Cup, but this time there was no such drama for Salman Ali Agha’s side. Pakistan avenged that loss with a convincing 32-run victory on Tuesday.
In the day’s second match, New Zealand registered a dominant 10-wicket win over the United Arab Emirates, with Kolkata Knight Riders batters Tim Seifert and Finn Allen playing key roles. The two KKR stars also created a world record in T20 World Cup cricket. In the first match of the day, the Netherlands defeated Namibia by seven wickets.
Once again, the USA challenged Pakistan in T20 cricket, but could not convert it into a win. Shadley van Schalkwyk, who had earlier taken four wickets for 25 runs against India, produced a similar performance against Pakistan, finishing with figures of 4 for 25. He 4⁴ Saim Ayub with his very first delivery and removed Salman Agha in the opening over as well. His spell triggered a collapse, with Pakistan losing five wickets in the last ten balls.
After winning the toss, USA captain Monank Patel opted to field first. On the Colombo pitch, Pakistan failed to make full use of the opportunity to bat first and ended on 190 for 9. Opener Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with an impressive 73 off 41 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes. Saim Ayub made 19, while captain Salman Agha had a disappointing outing, scoring just 1.
Batting at number four, former captain Babar Azam steadied the innings with 46 off 32 balls, including four fours and a six. Shadab Khan added a quick 30 off 12 balls, but the lower order failed to contribute. Mohammad Nawaz (5), Faheem Ashraf (1), Usman Khan (0) and Abrar Ahmed (0) could not provide support. Shaheen Afridi remained unbeaten on 9.
For the USA, Mohammad Mohsin took one wicket for 27 runs. The match also marked the international debut of former Pakistan Test cricketer Ehsan Adil for the USA, but he had a tough outing, conceding 39 runs in three overs without taking a wicket.
Chasing a target of 191, the USA did not start badly. Opener Shayan Jahangir looked aggressive, while Andries Gous struggled and was dismissed for 13 off 13 balls. The USA reached 50 for 1 in the powerplay, but lost momentum after the first wicket.
Jahangir narrowly missed a half-century, getting out for 49 off 34 balls to Shadab. Captain Monank Patel failed again, scoring just 3. There was some resistance from Milind Kumar and Shubham Ranjane in the fourth-wicket partnership. Milind scored 29 off 22 balls, while Ranjane made a fighting 51 off 30 deliveries, hitting three fours and three sixes. However, the rest of the batting line-up could not contribute, and the USA finished on 158 for 8.
Pakistan’s most successful bowler was Usman Tariq, who took 3 wickets for 27 runs. Shadab claimed 2 for 26, while Shaheen Afridi, Abrar Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz took one wicket each.
Kiwi Openers power New Zealand to rapid 10 wicket win over UAE
New Zealand continuem⁶their winning run in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with a dominant 10-wicket victory over the UAE in the 11th match of the tournament on Tuesday. It was the Kiwi side’s second consecutive win, as they chased down the target without losing a single wicket.
Batting first after winning the toss in Chennai, the UAE posted a competitive total of 174 runs. However, the New Zealand openers made light work of the chase on a batting-friendly pitch, reaching 175 in just 15.2 overs.
Tim Seifert and Finn Allen were outstanding at the top of the order. Seifert brought up his half-century off just 23 balls and remained unbeaten on 89 from 42 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and three sixes. Allen played the perfect supporting role, scoring an unbeaten 84 off 50 balls, including five fours and five sixes.
Earlier, the UAE put up a strong batting display, led by Alishan Sharafu, who scored 55 off 47 balls, and captain Muhammad Waseem, who remained not out on 66 from 45 deliveries. Mayank Kumar also chipped in with a quick 21 off 13 balls.
For New Zealand, Matt Henry was the most successful bowler with two wickets, both coming in the final over. Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson, Mitchell Santner and Glenn Phillips picked up one wicket each as the UAE finished on 173 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Bas De Leede all round show helps Netherlands beat Namibia
The Netherlands bounced back from their narrow defeat against Pakistan to register their first win of the T20 World Cup with a convincing seven-wicket victory over Namibia on Tuesday. Bas de Leede starred with an unbeaten 72 to guide the Dutch to the target with two overs to spare.
Chasing 157, the Netherlands lost early wickets but remained in control thanks to a crucial 70-run partnership between de Leede and Colin Ackermann, who scored 32. Michael Levitt also chipped in with a quick 28 as the Dutch reached the target comfortably.
Earlier, Namibia struggled against disciplined bowling and were restricted to 156 for 8. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton top-scored with 42, while Logan van Beek and de Leede took two wickets each. Aryan Dutt impressed with an economical spell, conceding just 13 runs in three overs.
It was a composed all-round performance from the Netherlands as they sealed a much-needed win in the tournament.
