Pakistan Whitewash Australia with Record Win Ahead of T20 World Cup

Even though Pakistan will not play against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup, as announced by the Pakistan government, the national team continues to remain in fine form. Ignoring the off-field uncertainty, Pakistan completely dominated Australia in the home T20 series, winning all three matches to complete a clean sweep and boost their World Cup preparations under captain Salman Ali Agha.

The biggest win came on Sunday in Lahore, where Pakistan crushed Australia by 111 runs. It was Australia’s heaviest defeat ever in T20 cricket. For the first time in seven years, Pakistan not only beat Australia in a single match but also won a full series against them.

Batting first, Pakistan posted a massive 207 for 6 in 20 overs. Opener Saim Ayub continued his good form, scoring 56 off 37 balls. Fakhar Zaman and Salman Ali Agha failed to contribute in this match, but Babar Azam and Shadab Khan produced an explosive partnership to take Pakistan to a commanding total.

Shadab smashed 46 off just 19 balls, while Babar remained unbeaten on 50 from 36 deliveries, impressing with his strike rate. Australia, however, did not field their strongest XI in every match, making frequent changes as they treated the series mainly as a preparation exercise rather than focusing on results.

In reply, Australia’s chase collapsed almost immediately. Captain Mitchell Marsh was dismissed for 1 in the very first over by Shaheen Afridi. Apart from Cameron Green (22) and Marcus Stoinis (23), none of the Australian batters could offer resistance. Wickets fell at regular intervals, especially against Pakistan’s left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz, whom the visitors failed to handle.

Australia were bowled out for just 96 in 16.5 overs. Nawaz delivered a match-winning spell of 5 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs, while Shaheen picked up 2 for 16. Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah claimed one wicket each. Nawaz was named Player of the Match, while Salman Ali Agha was awarded Player of the Series.
