Suryavanshi's brutal 175 powers India to 6th Under19 World cup truimph

India scripted a historic triumph at the Harare Sports Club with a commanding performance in the Under-19 World Cup final, crushing England by a resounding 100-run margin to claim their sixth world title.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India produced a batting masterclass, piling up a colossal 411 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. The towering total proved far beyond England’s reach, as they were eventually restricted to 311 despite a spirited chase.

The undisputed hero of the night was 14-year-old sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who delivered a once-in-a-generation innings. The fearless left-hander smashed a breathtaking 175 off just 80 balls, blending raw power with elegant timing. His astonishing knock featured 15 towering sixes and 15 crisp fours, leaving the English bowlers completely shell-shocked. Captain Ayush Mhatre provided valuable support with a composed 53 off 51 balls.

India did suffer an early setback when opener Aaron George departed for 9, but what followed was sheer dominance. Mhatre and Suryavanshi stitched together a blistering partnership, dismantling England’s attack with relentless aggression. Suryavanshi raced to his fifty in just 32 balls, and the duo brought up a century stand in a mere 63 deliveries, setting the tone for a massive total.

Suryavanshi’s 175 is now etched in history as the highest individual score ever in an Under-19 World Cup final, surpassing Umang Chand’s 111 from 2012. Even more remarkably, it stands as the highest score in any youth ODI final or knockout match, underlining the extraordinary magnitude of his achievement. He reached his century in only 55 balls, making it one of the fastest hundreds ever seen in a U-19 final.

Six-Hitting Record Shattered

In yet another record-breaking feat, Suryavanshi finished the tournament with a staggering 30 sixes, the most ever in a single Under-19 World Cup. An unbelievable 15 of those came in the final alone, eclipsing the previous record of 22 sixes held by Dewald Brevis.

Chasing the mammoth target, England attempted an aggressive start, but their bold approach backfired. Ben Dawkins (66) and Ben Myles (45) showed early promise, while skipper Thomas Rieu chipped in with 31. However, a dramatic collapse saw England lose four wickets in just eight balls, derailing their chase. Caleb Falconer’s (115)  rapid century  offered brief resistance, but the outcome was never in doubt.

In the end, India’s overwhelming batting firepower and record-shattering performance ensured a thumping, unforgettable victory, cementing their legacy as the most dominant force in Under-19 World Cup history.
