Wimbledon 2026 – Day 13: Linda Nosková Claims Maiden Grand Slam Title After Epic All-Czech Final

Day 13 of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships belonged to Linda Nosková, who completed a dream fortnight by defeating compatriot Karolina Muchová to lift the prestigious Venus Rosewater Dish. In the first all-Czech women's singles final in Grand Slam history, the 21-year-old ninth seed displayed remarkable composure and resilience to overcome an inspired fightback from the experienced Muchová, winning 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 in a gripping contest lasting just over two and a half hours. The victory earned Nosková her maiden Grand Slam singles title and crowned one of the most memorable breakthrough performances seen at the All England Club in recent years.

The championship match began with Nosková playing fearless, attacking tennis. Her powerful first serve, penetrating groundstrokes and aggressive returning immediately put Muchová under pressure. The younger Czech broke serve twice in the opening set and dominated from the baseline to race through it 6-2 in only 35 minutes. Muchová struggled to cope with Nosková's pace and committed a series of unforced errors as the ninth seed moved to within one set of the title.

Nosková continued her dominance early in the second set, breaking serve to establish a 5-2 lead and earning five championship points. With the title seemingly slipping away, Muchová produced an extraordinary response. Mixing sliced backhands, delicate drop shots and clever net approaches, she saved every championship point before breaking back to ignite a remarkable comeback. The experienced Czech then won five consecutive games, stunning Centre Court by taking the second set 7-5 and forcing a decider. The momentum had completely shifted, and the Wimbledon crowd sensed a classic final unfolding.

Despite suffering the disappointment of letting such a commanding lead disappear, Nosková displayed maturity well beyond her years in the deciding set. She quickly regrouped, rediscovered the aggressive serving that had carried her throughout the tournament and broke Muchová midway through the set with a series of blistering returns. Refusing to allow another comeback, the 21-year-old confidently served out the match, sealing the championship 6-3 with a 115 mph unreturned serve before collapsing onto the Centre Court grass in celebration.

The triumph completed a remarkable Wimbledon campaign for Nosková. During the fortnight she defeated Ella Seidel, Camila Osorio, Sorana Cîrstea, Madison Keys, Elise Mertens, Marta Kostyuk and finally Karolina Muchová, demonstrating consistency, power and composure throughout the tournament. Her victory also ensured that a Czech player lifted the Wimbledon women's singles trophy for the third time in four years, following the successes of Markéta Vondroušová in 2023 and Barbora Krejčíková in 2024.

Although defeated, Muchová earned widespread admiration for one of the bravest fightbacks ever seen in a Wimbledon final. After appearing on the verge of defeat, she forced Nosková to earn every point in the deciding set and received a standing ovation from the Centre Court crowd. Her run to a maiden Wimbledon final, which included victories over Coco Gauff, Naomi Osaka and defending champion Barbora Krejčíková, reaffirmed her reputation as one of the most gifted all-court players in women's tennis.

Away from the singles final, Day 13 also featured the traditional doubles championship matches, adding to another memorable afternoon at the All England Club before attention turned to the men's singles final. The Centre Court crowd included members of the British Royal Family, former Wimbledon champions and numerous sporting legends, with the champion receiving the Venus Rosewater Dish from Catherine, Princess of Wales, the patron of the All England Club.

With the women's championship decided, Wimbledon 2026 now builds towards its grand finale on Day 14. Defending champion Jannik Sinner will meet Alexander Zverev in a blockbuster men's singles final. Sinner enters the match seeking a successful defence of his Wimbledon crown, while Zverev aims to capture his first Wimbledon title after producing the finest grass-court tennis of his career.
