England overpower India by nine wickets to clinch T20I series in style

England produced another clinical all-round performance to defeat India by nine wickets in the fourth T20 International at the County Ground, Bristol, taking an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match series after the opening game was abandoned due to rain. The victory also secured England's first-ever bilateral T20I series win over India, highlighting the hosts' dominance throughout the contest.

After being asked to bat first, India desperately needed a strong start following their heavy defeat in the previous match. However, England's pace attack once again exposed the visitors' fragile top order. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (15) played a few attractive strokes but was unable to convert his start into a substantial innings playing a poor pull shot to Archer . Abhishek Sharma(16)  looked positive during the powerplay before falling while attempting to accelerate, while Ishan Kishan(4) struggled to find fluency against England's disciplined bowling and departed to a pull shot  after a brief stay. Captain Shreyas Iyer then found himself rebuilding the innings with wickets falling regularly around him.

Shreyas produced a magnificent captain's knock under difficult circumstances. Displaying excellent temperament and shot selection, he mixed elegant drives with powerful pulls and lofted strokes to keep India's innings alive. He remained unbeaten on 80 off 52 balls, striking eight fours and three sixes, carrying his bat through the innings while receiving very little support from the other end. Tilak Varma (11)  and Shivam Dubey(22)  briefly threatened to provide momentum but both fell before they could launch significant assaults, while the lower order also failed to capitalise during the closing overs. England's bowlers maintained relentless pressure with disciplined lines and clever variations, restricting India to 158/7, a total that appeared well below par on an excellent batting surface. Both Archer & Tongue took 2 wickets

England's reply began with intent despite the early loss of an opener. Any hopes India had of defending the modest total quickly disappeared as Harry Brook and Phil Salt took complete control. Brook was in sublime touch, producing one of the finest innings of his T20I career. He blasted an unbeaten 79 from just 35 balls, peppering the boundary with crisp drives, powerful pulls and clean six-hitting. Salt complemented him perfectly with a composed 59 not out from 42 deliveries, rotating the strike intelligently before punishing anything loose.

The pair shared a magnificent unbroken 146-run partnership for the second wicket, dismantling India's bowling attack with a blend of aggression and intelligent placement. England chased down the target in only 13.5 overs, winning by nine wickets with 37 balls to spare and completing one of their most dominant performances against India in T20 internationals.

England's bowlers deserved enormous credit for laying the foundation for victory. Jofra Archer once again struck crucial blows with the new ball, while Josh Tongue generated steep bounce and uncomfortable pace. The supporting bowlers maintained tight control through the middle overs, never allowing India's batters to build partnerships or accelerate consistently. Their disciplined effort ensured that Shreyas Iyer's valiant innings remained a lone battle rather than the platform for a competitive total.

England's convincing victory underlined the gulf between the two teams in the series. Their fast bowlers repeatedly dismantled India's top order, while the batting unit chased confidently and without pressure. Harry Brook's breathtaking innings, Phil Salt's composed support and another disciplined bowling display ensured England sealed a memorable series triumph with one match still to play.
