Wimbledon 2026 – Day 10: Fery's Fairytale Continues, Zverev Outclasses Fritz
Day 10 of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships marked the conclusion of the singles quarter-finals and produced another unforgettable chapter in one of the most remarkable stories in Wimbledon history. British wildcard Arthur Fery continued his dream run by storming into the men's semi-finals in front of an ecstatic Centre Court crowd, while Germany's Alexander Zverev completed the last-four line-up with an authoritative victory over Taylor Fritz. In the women's draw, Marta Kostyuk and Linda Noskova both reached their first-ever Grand Slam semi-finals after impressive straight-set victories.
The biggest celebration of the day belonged to Britain's Arthur Fery, whose astonishing Wimbledon campaign gathered even more momentum with a commanding 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-0 victory over Italian ninth seed Flavio Cobolli. Playing before a packed Centre Court, the 23-year-old wildcard showed remarkable composure from the outset, breaking Cobolli's serve midway through the opening set before producing clutch tennis to edge a closely contested second-set tie-break. With the home crowd roaring him on, Fery completely overwhelmed the exhausted Italian in the third set, racing through it without dropping a game. The victory made Fery only the fourth wildcard in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam men's singles semi-final and the first British men's wildcard ever to achieve the feat at Wimbledon. His remarkable run has transformed him into the story of the Championships.
The second men's quarter-final saw second seed Alexander Zverev produce arguably his finest grass-court performance of the season as he defeated American Taylor Fritz in straight sets to secure his maiden Wimbledon semi-final. Zverev controlled proceedings with his powerful first serve, aggressive backhand and excellent movement, repeatedly neutralising Fritz's renowned serve-and-forehand combination. Although the American fought hard throughout the contest, he struggled to create consistent break opportunities as Zverev advanced comfortably to set up a blockbuster semi-final against Arthur Fery.
The women's quarter-finals opened with Ukrainian star Marta Kostyuk delivering one of the performances of her career to defeat Italy's Jasmine Paolini 6-3, 6-2. Paolini, last year's Wimbledon finalist, was unable to cope with Kostyuk's aggressive baseline game and excellent serving. The Ukrainian broke serve early in both sets, dictating rallies with powerful groundstrokes and displaying impressive composure to reach the first Grand Slam semi-final of her career.
Czech youngster Linda Noskova continued her outstanding tournament by overcoming Belgium's Elise Mertens 6-3, 7-5. Noskova struck the ball superbly throughout the match, using her penetrating groundstrokes to keep Mertens on the defensive. After comfortably claiming the opening set, the Czech survived a determined fightback in the second before securing the decisive break at 6-5 and serving out the match with confidence. The victory earned the 21-year-old her first appearance in a Grand Slam semi-final and confirmed her status as one of the brightest young stars on the WTA Tour.
With the completion of the quarter-finals, both singles draws are now set for a thrilling finish. In the men's competition, defending champion Jannik Sinner will renew his rivalry with Novak Djokovic in a highly anticipated semi-final, while Alexander Zverev faces Britain's inspirational wildcard Arthur Fery, whose extraordinary run has captivated the Wimbledon crowds.
The women's semi-finals promise equally compelling contests. Coco Gauff will take on Karolina Muchová in one half of the draw, while first-time Grand Slam semi-finalists Marta Kostyuk and Linda Noskova will battle for a place in the Wimbledon final. With several new faces challenging for the sport's most prestigious title alongside established stars, Wimbledon 2026 has developed into one of the most unpredictable and exciting Championships in recent memory.
