Finally Spain produced the decisive moment in the extra time , scoring the only goal of the match through a brilliantly constructed move. Argentina threw everything forward during the closing stages, but Spain defended with discipline and composure to secure a memorable 1-0 victory and become FIFA World Cup champions once again after 2010 .
