India Crush Pakistan by 7 Wickets, Seal Super Four Spot & refuse handshakes

What was expected, happened. India brushed aside Pakistan with ease in their Asia Cup clash, registering a commanding 7-wicket win and booking their place in the Super Four. The match ended in fitting style with skipper Suryakumar Yadav smashing a six to seal victory.

The contest carried added emotion for Indian fans, especially after recent tensions following the Pahalgam terror attack, with many questioning why cricketing ties with Pakistan should continue. But for Suryakumar and his men, there was only one word in their minds—opponent. No extra courtesies, no gestures & most strikingly - no post match handshakes & pleasanteries —just a single mission: defeat Pakistan. And they did so clinically.

Hardik Pandya set the tone right away after India lost the toss and were asked to bowl. In the very first over, he dismissed talented young opener Saim Ayub. Jasprit Bumrah struck in the second over, removing Mohammad Haris. While Pakistan attempted to stabilize, their innings unraveled quickly after the powerplay against India’s spinners. Captain Salman Ali Agha managed only 3 before falling, while Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz also perished cheaply. Only Sahibzada Farhan offered resistance with a gritty 40. Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets, Axar Patel took two, Varun Chakravarthy one, while Bumrah finished with two scalps. Pakistan avoided total collapse only thanks to Shaheen Afridi’s late cameo of 33 off 16 balls, dragging them to 127 all out.

That was never going to be enough against India’s explosive batting. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill came out blazing, peppering the boundaries and dismantling Pakistan’s attack. Gill fell for 10 to a sharp carrom ball from Saim Ayub, but Abhishek’s onslaught continued as he tore into Shaheen Afridi, smashing 31 off just 13 balls before also falling to Ayub.

From there, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma played smart, calculated cricket—rotating strike, punishing loose deliveries, and showing intent against the spinners. Pakistan’s trademark sloppy fielding returned to haunt them, with Mohammad Nawaz spilling a simple chance off Varma. Though Tilak was later bowled for 31, the damage had long been done.

It was left to Suryakumar to finish things off in style. His unbeaten 47 featured a towering 90-meter six, and he sealed India’s emphatic win with another maximum. India chased down the target with 25 balls to spare, losing only three wickets along the way.

India not only thrashed their arch-rivals but also sent a strong message, continuing their dominance over Pakistan in major tournaments—be it the World Cup, Champions Trophy, or now, the Asia Cup.
