The Lakshmana Temple was built around 930–950 CE by Yashovarman, a powerful ruler of the Chandela dynasty, who reigned during the early medieval period. The temple is among the earliest and most significant temples of Khajuraho, setting the tone for the architectural grandeur of the other temples in the complex.
