Novak Djokovic Advances to French Open 2025 Semi-Finals with Commanding Win Over Zverev

Twenty-four-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic secured his place in the semi-finals of the 2025 French Open with a dominant performance on Wednesday, June 4. The 38-year-old Serbian star defeated last year’s runner-up, Alexander Zverev, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 on Court Philippe-Chatrier, taking three hours and 17 minutes to complete the victory.

Zverev made a strong start, breaking Djokovic early to take a 2-0 lead and eventually claiming the first set — the first set Djokovic had dropped in the tournament. However, from the second set onwards, Djokovic elevated his game and did not allow Zverev another break of serve for the remainder of the match.

While Zverev showed flashes of brilliance, his inconsistency proved costly. He committed 42 unforced errors, slightly outweighing his 38 winners — just four fewer than Djokovic’s 42.

As the match wore on, Djokovic rolled back the years, producing stretches of vintage tennis. The two engaged in several marathon rallies, many lasting between 20 and 40 shots, with Djokovic coming out on top more often than not thanks to his exceptional returning and court coverage.

With the win, Djokovic advances to a record-extending 51st Grand Slam semi-final, where he will face world No. 1 Jannik Sinner in a blockbuster clash. In the other semi-final, Carlos Alcaraz is set to take on Lorenzo Musetti.
