India set a formidable 372 target for Sri Lanka in 1st test but rain threat remains on 5th day
India further consolidated their position in the 1st test at Galle vs Sri Lanka. Already with a sizeable 178 run lead on the first innings, India went after the Sri Lankan bowling on day 4 of the 1st test and lost wickets in the process to be finally all out for 193 but set a huge target of 373 for the hosts who struggled to reach 84/4 at close .
As for the India 2nd innings Jaiswal was out for 0 on 3rd ball trying to cut . However 1st innings Centurion Devdutt Paddikal (44) & KL Rahul (35) steadied the innings . Gill (8) was out cheaply but the best innings from India came from Rishabh Pant who drove & cut & pulled his way to a belligerent 66 in 69 balls .
However the lower order of India failed to consolidate and India was 193 allout with Ashita Fernando getting 4 wickets .
Sri Lanka once again started the innnings on a poor note losing early wickets as the Indian bowlers looked threatening before skipper Dhananjaya De Silva(34) & first innings centurion Sonal Dinusha (25) batted solidly to avert further loss. However Sri Lanka are a long way behind the target of 372 as they end day 4 at 84/4 and hoping for more rains
