Colin Croft was born on 15 March 1953 in Georgetown, Guyana. A key member of the fearsome West Indies fast-bowling attack of the late 1970s and early 1980s, Croft was known for his unorthodox run-up and steep bounce.

Croft was a right-arm fast bowler renowned for:

A wide, almost diagonal run-up

Delivering the ball from close to the batsman

However his international career with West Indies was cut short due to his subsequent involvement in rebel tours of South Africa.  As we know , due to the apartheid regime in South Africa between 1971 to 1991 , all tours taken by cricketers to South Africa during that period resulted in banning of those ceixketers from International cricket.

Colin Croft may not always be mentioned first among West Indies’ legendary pacemen, but his contributions were immense.
