IPL2026 : Rajasthan Royals Cruise to Dominant Win Over CSK as Vaibhav Stars in Chase

Rajasthan Royals chased down a modest target with complete ease, riding on a blistering start from Yashasvi Jaiswal and a sensational knock by 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Chasing 128, Rajasthan reached the target in just 12.1 overs, sealing a one-sided 8-wicket victory with 47 balls to spare. In response to Chennai’s 127 all out in 19.4 overs, Rajasthan finished at 128/2 in emphatic fashion.

Opening the innings, Vaibhav set the tone with fearless, attacking cricket right from the start. The Chennai bowlers had no answers to his aggression as he made the chase even more straightforward. Before being dismissed by Anshul Kamboj, Vaibhav smashed a stunning 52 off just 17 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes, at an extraordinary strike rate of 305.88. His explosive half-century effectively took the game away from Chennai.

At the other end, the experienced Jaiswal anchored the innings. After Vaibhav’s dismissal, Dhruv Jurel joined him and maintained the momentum. Though Jurel did not get a big score, he contributed a quick 18 off 9 balls, hitting 4 boundaries. The remaining formalities were completed by Jaiswal and captain Riyan Parag. Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 38 off 36 balls (3 fours, 1 six), while Parag scored an unbeaten 14 off 11 deliveries, including a four and a six. Kamboj was the only successful bowler for Chennai, picking up 2 wickets for 27 runs.

Earlier, Chennai Super Kings looked completely out of sorts on the Guwahati pitch. The five-time champions suffered a batting collapse against disciplined bowling from Rajasthan. None of the batters, including T20 World Cup heroes Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube, could make an impact. The team failed to build any meaningful partnerships and kept losing wickets at regular intervals from the second over onwards.

Rajasthan’s pace attack exploited the overcast conditions brilliantly, troubling Chennai’s top order with swing. Nandre Burger struck first, bowling Samson for 6 in the second over. In the next over, Jofra Archer dismissed captain Ruturaj Gaikwad for 6, and Ayush Mhatre departed for a duck soon after. Reduced to 19/3, Chennai never recovered from the early blows.

Matthew Short (2) failed to steady the innings, while Sarfaraz Khan (17) and Kartik Sharma (18) made brief attempts. Dube (6), despite starting with a six, could not carry on, and Noor Ahmad (1) also disappointed.

Jamie Overton provided some resistance under pressure, scoring 43 off 36 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes, helping Chennai cross the 100-run mark. However, he received little support from the other end. Kamboj remained unbeaten on 7 as Chennai were bowled out for 127.

Among the Rajasthan bowlers, Archer and Burger picked up two wickets each, conceding 19 and 27 runs respectively. Ravindra Jadeja impressed against his former side with figures of 2 for 18. Brjesh Sharma, Ravi Bishnoi, and Sandeep Sharma chipped in with one wicket each to complete a dominant all-round performance for Rajasthan.
