Healy Signs Off in Style with 158 as Australia Crush India by 185 Runs to lead 8-4 on points

It was a farewell befitting a champion. Alyssa Healy brought down the curtain on her international career in spectacular fashion, smashing 158 off 98 balls in the third ODI against India on Sunday to power Australia to a commanding 185-run victory.

Playing their first 50-over series after winning the ODI World Cup at home, India endured a humbling whitewash at the hands of the hosts, led brilliantly by Healy in Hobart. Her husband, Mitchell Starc, was present in the stands to witness the memorable knock, as Healy ensured she left the international stage with an indelible mark.

Australia Post 409 on the Back of Healy’s Masterclass

After being asked to bat first, Australia built their innings around Healy’s aggressive intent from the outset. Although Phoebe Litchfield failed to convert her start, Healy dominated proceedings. She found strong support from Georgia Voll, who followed up her century in the previous match with a brisk 62 off 52 balls. The pair added 104 runs for the second wicket.

Following Voll’s dismissal, Healy combined with Beth Mooney in a devastating partnership that completely took the game away from India. The experienced duo put on 145 runs in just 15 overs, dismantling the Indian bowling attack. Healy’s innings, laced with 27 fours and two sixes, finally ended at 158.

Mooney remained unbeaten on a superb  106 off 84 balls, while Nicola Carey provided late acceleration with a blazing  34 off just 15 deliveries. Australia finished with a massive 409 for 7 in 50 overs.

India’s bowlers struggled throughout. Sree Charani endured a particularly tough outing, conceding 106 runs in her 10 overs, while Deepti Sharma gave away 90 in her full quota. None of the Indian bowlers were able to apply sustained pressure on the Australian batters.

India Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing a daunting 410, India had no option but to attack from the outset — a strategy that backfired quickly. Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for a duck, and although Pratika Rawal (27), Jemimah Rodrigues (42), and Harmanpreet Kaur (25) got starts, none could convert them into substantial scores.

At one stage, India were reeling at 135 for 7, staring at an even heavier defeat. Deepti Sharma (29) and Sneh Rana (44) added some respectability to the total, but the damage had long been done. India were eventually bowled out for 224 in 45.1 overs.

Alana King starred with the ball for Australia, claiming 4 for 33 in her 10 overs to wrap up the innings efficiently.

In the end, it was Healy’s day — a glittering final chapter to an outstanding international career, sealed with one last breathtaking performance.
